If you want to explore the south of Spandau, the best way to get there is by boat. Berlin’s public transport runs regular ferries from Wannsee S-Bahn station to the promenade and marina at Kladow.

The crossing takes 20 minutes and bicycles can also be taken along. In summer you should get there well before the ferry leaves, as waiting times are to be expected. The harbour at Kladow is a good starting point for various excursions. If you are travelling by bike, you can start from here on the Berlin Wall Trail or the Havel Cycle Trail.

A stroll along the promenade or further along the banks of the Havel is also worthwhile, especially when the weather’s nice. Both the Landhausgarten Dr. Max Fraenkel and the Gutshaus Neukladow are great places to drop into after a walk. In winter, the Kladow Christmas Market is held at the harbour, while in summer there’s the Jazz am Hafen Festival.

In front of the harbour lies the island Imchen. Nobody lives there, but there are numerous wild boar, which can sometimes even be seen boldly swimming across the Havel.
