Like the Spandau route, the Gatow route connects the centre of Berlin with Spandau. It runs in a straight line from Schloßplatz via the Tiergarten and then along Kaiserdamm and Heerstraße.

At the island of Pichelswerder, the route crosses the Havel on Stößenseebrücke and branches off to the south at Scharfe Lanke. The route ends in Gatow at Groß Glienicker See.

Instead of following the route along the busy Potsdamer Chaussee, why not take a detour into the unspoilt countryside of the Rieselfelder Karolinenhöhe? From there it’s not far to the banks of the Havel, where you can follow the Havel Cycle Trail to Kladow harbour and enjoy the ferry trip back.

Here are a selection of places along the route in Spandau.
